SHEEPPLUS works by accelerating the motility of the X-chromosome (i.e., female) bearing sperm, and by decelerating the motility of the Y-chromosome (i.e., male) bearing sperm. After insemination, the sperm are sorted in the reproductive tract of the dam. The result is more ova (egg cells) fertilized by the X-chromosome bearing sperm.
